Our Teacher

After exploring zen meditation on his own for many years, Carl Viggiani began formal zen training with Eido Shimano Roshi in 1987. In 1990 he moved to Dai Bosatsu Zendo, Eido Roshi’s monastery in the Catskills in New York, where he lived and practiced until 1993. He then studied with different teachers, eventually becoming a student of Robert Kennedy Roshi, who installed him as a Sensei (teacher) in 2013. Carl is also a musician and a piano tuner, and lives with his wife Christiane in White Plains, NY.
